State Exams Dutch as a Second Language (Nt2)

The Nt2 refers to the State Examination in Dutch as a second language programme and consisting 4 parts: reading, speaking, listening and writing skills.  This test is referred to in State Exams Dutch as a Second Language (Nt2). Those with an international educational background including students who speak perfect Dutch, must take this proficiency examination before admittance to a regular study programme or to work in company. This Dutch examination is essential for demonstration of proficiency in Dutch reading, listening, writing and speaking skills.

Who can write State Exams Dutch as a Second Language (Nt2)

The State Examination Nt2 is intended for people aged 17 and older. They have a different mother tongue than Dutch. No minimum education is required and anyone can write this examination irrespective of nationality. The candidates who already have a diploma of a Dutch form of education, such as a VMBO or HAVO diploma do not need to write State exams Nt2.

Content of State Exams Dutch as a Second Language (Nt2)

The State Exams Nt2 comprises of four parts: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing . 

Program Levels State Exams Dutch as a Second Language (Nt2)

There are two levels: Program I and Program II.
 
Program I is intended for people who want to work or study at MBO-3 or -4 level. The language level of this program is B1. This level is equal to language level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) / Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The content and tasks of the exam are aimed at situations that occur in education, work and daily life at MBO-3 or -4 level.

Program II is for people who want to work or study at HBO or university. The language level of this program is B2. This level is equal to language level B2 of the European Reference Framework (CEFR) / Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The content and tasks of the exam are aimed at situations that occur in education, work and the daily life of highly educated people.

Candidates do not need to write  Program I first and then Program II. Which program you write is independent decision.
